Yeah I have to say i would be really surprised to see him traded at this point unless someone gets really desperate last minute.

He was signed to a AHL contract but still this means probably White and Mermis are staying in the NHL so Vats is probably gone soon.

It was an NHL, two way contract. But yes likely means Vats is gone, and it'll help out with staying above the cap floor when players are moved out

If it was an AHL contract he wouldnt need waivers, but they signed him to an NHL contract and put him on waivers to send him to Bingo. Theres a chance he gets a call up at some point and gets some games in with us when we end up going full tank mode towards the end

When he signs the contract he has to be put on waivers regardless of if he's going to the NHL/AHL. So he might be straight onto NHL team anyway.

Thats not true, he was already in Bingo on an AHL deal. We signed him to an NHL contract which technically brought him up onto the NHL roster, so we had to put him on waivers to "send him back down" to allow him to keep playing in Bingo and eligible for the AHL playoffs. If we signed him to this deal and wanted to keep him on the NHL roster right now, no waivers wouldve been required

We signed him to an NHL deal from his AHL deal to allow him to be called up at some point later in the season, and raised his cap hit to help stay above the cap floor when we make the rest of our moves

Also just a reminder that we may see some waiver-exempt players sent to the AHL tomorrow.

Players like Jack, Anderson, Merkley, White, and Mac are possible. Just paper transactions to allow them to be AHL playoffs-eligible and will probably be recalled shortly after.

I don't get the rush on moving Palms. If we move him, Merkley will go from a couple seasons with the tuscon roadrunners, all the way to devs #1RW? Him and Anderson are our only righties with offensive capabilities. Bratt would obviously take RW duties, but Palms will be worth a 1st and a prospect now, or at next seasons deadline, so keep him.

Can we make a play for Kapanen(tor). The guy would be a great fit, on a great contract. It would give us flexibility to move Palms.
